So Krista is sick with bronchitis. Yes, this stinks. She has spent the last two days sinking slowly into the couch, which, of course, is not typical for her. We just had a nice stretch of weather, lots of fun things going on and she was working out very consistently. Forced rest is not good for morale.
I have been trying to take care of her and doing churchy stuff at the same time. This past weekend was our spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the youth; it went impeccably well. The kids had fun and earned a stack of cash so impressive it could have been put into a black leather briefcase and used in a shady back alley deal.
Krista is going to take her certification exam - and pay $40 to have her old scores sent. Despite the fact that she has original copies in her possession. Krista asked the Ohio Ed. Dept., "Can I just mail them to you myself and save you time and me money?" The answer - "NO. Praxis [the test distributor] must send them." Apparently Praxis and State Education Departments really are as greedy and inefficient as you have ever dreamed.
But the exciting news is that in the last two weeks we have done two fun things with young people in the area. Please note that Krista and I have begun using the term "young person" as if we were 80 years old.
"Krista, guess what?!? I had a conversation with a nice young person today!" (actual, serious quote).
The first event was a focus group that will be meeting once a month to discuss the future of Hamilton as young adults see it. Thus, we were able to meet several other couples whom we want to get to know better - people who know what Twitter is and who would like something to do on a Saturday night. Second, we went to a small group from another church - Crossroads - it was spiritually refreshing (God seems to know what we need) and we were able to meet a very cool young couple in ministry. We can now say that after 7 months we know another couple under 35 who loves Jesus. This is exciting.

I wish we could have made the under 35 cutoff....sounds like things are going great - sorry to hear about Krista's sickness...here is to chicken noodle soup. We miss you both! I've used your "curve of happiness" phrase many times. Take care.
Sad how exciting it is to hang out with someone "young". We get ridiculously happy whenever it happens. Young and serious about their faith--double bonus! I'm impressed with your 35 cutoff--anyone without kids within 10 years of our age is "young"!
Hope Krista feels better soon!
Sorry about the bronchitis! So glad to hear a little bit about your lives. So glad for you to find another couple to connect with there. Matt is trying to pump out his dissertation and then we'll see. We miss having you around these parts! michelle for all
